The most a single renter can rent at a time is 5 pieces of equipment.

Commercial activity is prohibited on rental equipment.

No animals or alcohol allowed on equipment. Those suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to use equipment.

You are not allowed to go under any bridges.

Rentals are self service, meaning that customers are expected to setup, rinse, and put away their own equipment.

Children under 10 years of age or 65 pounds are allowed to ride on a kayak with someone who meets the age and weight requirements.

You must be at least 10 years old and 65 pounds to paddle your own kayak.

You must wear a personal flotation device (PFD) at ALL TIMES.

All equipment must be returned within 2.5 hours or ½ hour before closing-whichever comes first.Minors can use the equipment rented, but must be supervised by someone at least 18 years of age. You must be at least 18 years of age to rent equipment and willing to take financial and legal responsibility for the equipment you are renting (no more than 5 rentals per adult).We have a large number of kayaks and we do NOT take reservations.

In order to rent our sit-inside sea kayaks you must be checked off by either completing the prerequisite class at MBAC or complete a 2-hour orientation/check-off if you have previous sea kayaking experience. We offer sit-on-top single and double kayaks as well as sit-inside sea kayaks. We highly recommend paddling early in the day to avoid higher afternoon wind patterns. We do not cancel for rain (it's the PNW, after all)! We begin canceling rentals when the wind reaches 15-20 knots. If wind patterns pick up we will contact you via phone and e-mail to cancel your reservation for safety reasons with as much notice as possible.

We ask all of our rental customers not to enter the Ballard Locks with our equipment due to safety concerns. AGE REQUIREMENTS: 4 years of age or older for any rental experience, 12 for their own craft, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult. For your safety we ask that we keep only 1 person per paddleboard, 1 person per single kayak, and 2 people for each double kayak. Friday through Sunday and holidays there is a 2 hour rental minimum. We recommend using a ride share service or biking, as we do not have dedicated parking. Please plan even more time to find parking on hot summer days/weekends. Please allow extra time to find parking and arrive at least 20 minutes early at the kiosk to ensure you get the most out of your rental. Your time on the water begins at the time selected for your reservation. If you would like to experience sit-in kayaks, please join us on a tour. We use sit-on-top kayaks for all of our rentals for safety reasons. Included in each kayak rental and paddle board rental are paddles and fitted PFDs for each participant, a safety demonstration and basic paddling instruction.
